Fire weather concerns continue with the hot and dry pattern

Temperatures today will be in the mid and upper 90s. The 90-degree days will stay with us for the next week. In some areas, we could see jumps into the triple digits again on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Once again, we are dry and fire danger becomes increasingly more of an issue. Although some moisture has moved into our region, its locked up higher in the sky. In other words, we won’t be seeing it in the form of rain because the surface is too dry. There is a smaller chance that areas southeast of our region might see some scattered storms. Dry lightning is a possibility and that increases concerns for wildfires, since the ground has so much dry fuel on it.

We are seeing hazy skies from the wildfires surrounding our region. Our air quality has been affected, but it changes throughout the day. It is something to monitor by the hour. We will be breezy today which should bring some more smoke into our region in the afternoon hours. Fires across Oregon are growing to tens of thousands of acres and more.

Remember to always practice fire safety. Have a great start to your work week.
