Family Access Network receives $15,000 grant from Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation

 BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Family Access Network has received a $15,000 grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation to provide children and their family members in Deschutes County with access to crucial resources for children to attend school well-fed, well-rested, and ready to learn.

Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation’s most recent round of giving awarded an incredible total of $857,975 across 82 charities.

“It is an honor to receive this grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation,” said FAN Executive Director Julie N. Lyche. “Their continued generosity shows an immense dedication to serving the people of Deschutes.” The support of the CCUIF empowers FAN advocates to help children live a healthy and sustainable life.

FAN currently has 23 advocates at 53 locations in Deschutes County schools. FAN advocates navigate and connect our clients to available resources. The CCUIF’s funding will help children and families regain stability and help break the cycle of poverty for Deschutes County families.

CCUIF Director Carma Mornarich stated, “The longer I serve as Executive Director of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, the more convinced I am there are solutions to problems. I’ve come to know the hope and strength I see from the incredibly dedicated non-profits the Cow Creek Foundation has funded in seeking solution results…there’s great joy and a variety of benefits that come from the process of seeking solutions.”

Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in 1993 and currently employs 28 advocates at 65 sites in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. These advocates work tirelessly to help families break the cycle of poverty. The direct placement of FAN advocates within schools allows FAN to effectively reach and connect children and families in need to essential resources to thrive.
