Cloudy skies to end the work week
Yesterday, it was looking like parts of central and eastern Oregon could see an isolated dry thunderstorm or two today or Friday. Now, conditions don’t appear very favorable for that. There is still some moisture but it is more likely that just clouds are in our forecast for today and tomorrow, which is good news for fire weather concerns. We’ll be mostly cloudy today and have some clearing over the following day or two.
Today and tomorrow should remain in 90s, just a little higher than normal. We’ll carry into the weekend above normal as well, but in the upper 80s. However, by next week we’ll be right about where we expect to be this time of year, even seeing some temperatures drop a little below normal. Although we’ll cool, we will still be dry.
We will still see breezier conditions tomorrow afternoon and on Saturday, gusts ranging 20-25mph, which will make fighting fires a little more difficult.
Air quality has dramatically decreased over the past few days, reaching unhealthy levels in many areas. Air quality is expected to remain slightly unhealthy to unhealthy in a number of areas for at least a few more days. A new Air Quality Advisory has been placed over Deschutes County, set to expire Friday night. We are currently surrounded by a number of fires, so no matter where the winds are coming from, we’ll be seeing smoke move in and out of the region. Keep monitoring the banner at the top of the page for the most updated information.
Happy Thursday.
