Warm and dry today before storms arrive tonight

As a weak ridge of high pressure moves over top of us today, our temperatures will increase a few degrees from yesterday, putting us in the low 80s. Sunny skies can be expected for most of the day but will progressively increase in the afternoon and evening. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s tonight.

The ridge pops in for today and pops out right after. Overnight, an upper level low pushes in and that will be the biggest trigger for our stormy weather. Tonight, we’ll see the storms start to kick up to our south in Klamath and Lake Counties, moving northeast over Central Oregon through the overnight hours. Isolated storms are expected to pop up across the region throughout the day tomorrow. This pattern will continue for a few days. Currently, there is a Fire Weather Watch for our region and areas around us due to the lightning that will likely accompany the storms. Pay attention to the banner at the top of the website, especially for the next few days as storms move through, for the most updated information.

As of right now, I think storms will pause on Friday and resume again Saturday. You can still expect cloudy conditions but I don't see any storms or showers Friday for our forecast area.

Air quality today will be an improvement from the last couple days. The cooler temperatures, cloudier skies, and higher relative humidity the next few days should help to mitigate some of our smoke pollution and help firefighters in their efforts. Lightning will be the biggest concern for new fire starts.

Happy Wednesday. Get outside today while the weather is nice!
