Mild Friday, rainy pattern begins Saturday
Friday looks to be on the quiet side with another “well above normal” temperature day. There will be a mixture of clouds and some sunshine, with a very slight chance of a shower. Highs will be in the 50s under partly to mostly cloud skies. We are in the process of setting up for a very wet period of rain with pockets of rain/snow through most of next week, including Christmas.
Saturday will be the first in a series of what should be several days of precipitation. Not all days will be considered “wash outs” but each day starting Saturday will be cloudy and some form of rain or mix is possible. Saturday will see only a passing shower in the afternoon.
Sunday will see periods of rain and mountain snow. Not much in the way of sunshine but not much more than light rain. Temperatures will not be cold enough for widespread ice overnight into Monday, but some elevated locations may see some ice.
Monday starts out dry as we get a brief break from the rainy weather. Then after sunset there will be a rain/snow mix though the morning commute Tuesday. Christmas eve day will start out rainy with snow and sleet mingled in from time to time.
The precipitation will come to an end late in the day Tuesday, and Christmas will start on a dry note. By the afternoon, or close to sunset some light snow may fall and continue into the night. This far out it is hard to determine if we will see much measurable snow, but the possibility of a White Christmas is now on the table.
Of note: Winter arrives officially at 1:20 am Saturday as the Winter Solstice occurs at that time. The direct rays of the Sun will be over the Tropic of Cancer and we will experience the least amount of daylight and the most darkness on the 21st.
