Sunday kicks off Meteorological Summer with pleasant temps
Happy Saturday!
Meteorological Summer begins on Sunday, which lasts from June through August.
Astronomical Summer starts later, on the Summer Solstice (June 20th) when the sun’s rays are directly over the Tropic of Cancer. That day also brings the longest stretch of daylight all year, with about 15 and a half hours of sunshine.
It’s definitely felt like summer the past couple of days. Friday we hit 91° in Bend, the first time we’ve reached that temperature this early in the season.
The high pressure system that brought us warmer weather is moving east. We're setting up for a cooler pattern starting on Sunday as the cold front moves in tonight. Rain is not expected with this system since the moisture will stay mostly to the north.
Today, afternoon highs reached the 70s and 80s across Central Oregon, but tomorrow highs will only climb to low to mid 70s. We're expecting another round of breezy afternoon winds that will become gusty at times.
The weather pattern remains quiet and dry through the extended period. You can plan on highs in the mid 70s with mostly sunny skies. Rain isn't expected through the next several days, but we'll let you know if anything changes.
Enjoy your weekend!
