Starting in August, Avelo Airlines will begin to leave Redmond Aiport, with last flight scheduled for December 2nd

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Avelo Airlines is closing its base in Burbank and will eventually cease services at the Redmond Airport, as it expands operations on the East Coast. The airline currently provides direct flights from Redmond to Sonoma County, Las Vegas, and Burbank in Los Angeles.

The last flight from Redmond to Sonoma County will be on August 10th, and the last route to Las Vegas will be the following day on August 11th.

Avelo will then shut down all operations at the Redmond Airport, with its last flight to Burbank scheduled for December 1st.

The company told KTVZ News that all customers who have flights booked can visit the Manage Trips section of their website to cancel their flight and receive a refund.

Avelo said there is not a singular reason why this decision was made, but believes the future of the company lies in the East Coast, adding its base at the Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), was too competitive.

"This was not an easy decision. Our company’s deepest operational roots are in (BUR), having launched our first flight there over four years ago during the COVID pandemic."

Redmond Airport didn't have many further specifics to add, but said, "The destinations serviced by Avelo have performed very well and we expect another operator to serve them in the future."

KTVZ News is working to learn more information about who may service these flights, and what a realistic timeline may be.
