Mostly quiet Sunday, slight chance for storms

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - The sunny and warm conditions in Central Oregon made today a great day for outdoor activities. The weather looks a bit different southeast of the tri-counties, where isolated to scattered thunderstorms have developed.

Overnight lows will drop to the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies.

Sunday will begin with sunny skies, but a few clouds will build in the late afternoon. If you're in Crook County, you could see a pop-up storm or two in the afternoon and evening. The farther east of Prineville you are, the better the chances.

Highs this weekend are sitting in the mid 80s, which is pretty typical for late July.

A low pressure system over Alaska will move south, bringing more moisture to the region and increasing thunderstorm chances next week.

Hotter temperatures return Monday, with highs climbing back into the 90s through at least midweek. Each afternoon brings a chance for isolated thunderstorms, fueled by the daytime heat.

The combination of heat and thunderstorms is raising fire concerns. If you're hanging outside, just keep an eye on the sky. We'll continue to monitor storm development as we head into next week.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!
