The warmth continues, wildfire concerns in breezy and warmer weather, Red Flag Warning in Jefferson County Thursday
(KTVZ, Bend Ore.) The mercury in the thermometer will be in the upper 80s today and the low 80s Thursday. As we head into the first weekend of fall the region will be more “summer-like than “fall-like” with temps in the 80s.
Winds are expected to be more noticeable Thursday as a dry cold front pushes through the region. The cold front is lacking any moisture so the main result of this event, other than a bit of a cool down, will be breezy winds arriving from the northwest.

The breezy pattern and dry conditions in the area have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Fire Weather Warning for NW Jefferson County. This will be in place from Thursday afternoon to Thursday evening across the Warm Springs Reservation area. Warmth and wind define this watch, which is likely to become a Red Flag Warning as we get closer to the event.
Friday will be much cooler than Wednesday as highs will be in the middle and lower 70s. The skies will be mostly sunny and the cool feel of fall will be in the air. Don’t get too used to it, warmer weather conditions are slated for the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday will both see highs in the low to middle 80s as another warming ridge arrives. This spike back to the 80s may well be the last run of 80s this season. The shorter hours of daylight and the lower sun angle are all starting to take over as we move into next week.
Sunday will be partly cloudy to start but clouds will arrive late in the day. The clouds Sunday are ahead of a line of showers that is slated to arrive Monday afternoon. This rain will be light, but is welcomed by the vegetation in the region.
More rain is possible on Tuesday and the temperatures next week are expected to be in the 60s.
