Cold night ahead, dry and warmer by late week
(KTVZ, Bend Ore.) Cold air continues in the region and tonight may be one of the coldest nights of the young fall season so far. Lows tonight will drop below freezing everywhere with some locations dipping into the teens.
Today low level clouds have kept the temperatures chilly, not allowing for any solar energy to warm the region. The cold pocket of air, which came in on the heels of the low pressure this weekend, is expected to be replaced by a warmer air mass Wednesday.
Tonight, if the skies clear, we will see the mercury dip to the teens in southern Deschutes County. The temps in Redmond, Prineville, and Sisters are expected to hit the low 23s. If the clouds linger, we will stay a bit warmer.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and mild with highs in the low 60s and upper 50s. Still below our normal high for mid-October, the mid-60s, but above where we have been for the past few days.
Thursday and Friday will be dry and mild as the region once again hits the 60s. Saturday will be the warmest day of the week with highs near 70.
Rain and cooler air arrive on Sunday, so we can expect to see a few clouds arrive late Saturday. The rain will be a cold rain and there is a chance for some more mountain snow above 5500 feet.
Overall, the pattern the rest of the week will be quiet and cool with no rain expected until this Sunday.
Please, Stay safe.
