Mild and dry pattern remains until mid-week followed by wintry mix into next weekend

(KTVZ, Bend Ore). We have been on the warmer side of normal this weekend and that pattern will continue into the new work week.  The ridge of high pressure responsible for the warmer pattern will begin to break down late Tuesday. This will open the door for a much cooler pattern and a mix of rain and snow.

Monday will be partly cloudy with filters sunshine as clouds remain in place.  The flow of air from the southwest will bring in much milder than usual air for mid-November allowing the temps to approach 70°. Even though there will not be much solar influence to the heating, due to the clouds and seasonal low angle, we still warm nicely.

Tuesday will be another well above normal day with highs in the middle 60s. Mostly to partly sunny skies define the day as we can hang on to the mild pattern.

Wednesday is the day of transition. Highs will still be mild, reaching the low to middle 60s, but late in the day the clouds lower and thicken. This is ahead of a major shift in the pattern.

Since the region has been dry and mild, the showers will take some time to make it to the ground. As Wednesday gets the lower levels of the atmosphere ready for the rain Thursday.

A cold front pushes through Thursday and the temperature readings will return to normal, topping out in the low 50s. There will be a mix of rain at lower elevations and a wintry mix across the Cascades.  Snow levels will be above pass levels Thursday but high elevation snow, above 7000 feet is likely.

Friday will be more of the same with snow levels dropping to 5500 to 6000 feet allowing for wet snow to accumulate through the passes.

This will be around through next weekend, so enjoy the mild and dry conditions this weekend.

If you are looking forward to some mountain snow, next weekend is going to be nice. If you are hoping for an extended mild fall, you may be disappointed starting Thursday.

Please, Stay safe.
