Mild and dry pattern continues, rain and wintry mix late week

Bend, OR (KTVZ) -

We are seeing some air quality issues this morning, which is a common occurrence at this time of year. People are wood burning to heat their houses and pile burning/prescribed burns are also happening. Cool temperatures and a high pressure pattern overhead keep the air close to the ground, which can cause reduced air quality. An Air Quality Alert is active for Deschutes County until Wednesday afternoon.

Mild and dry conditions will persist for another couple of days under this high pressure pattern. Your Veterans Day forecast is partly cloudy with temperatures in the 60s.

The next system will start to approach Wednesday and impact us by Thursday. Plan for increasing cloud cover tomorrow. Rain is forecasted beginning Thursday with off and on chances through the weekend.

Most of the incoming precipitation is expected to be eaten up by the Cascades. Best chances for showers in the high desert will be Thursday and Sunday. Higher elevations south and areas along the eastern slopes will likely see a wintry mix and snow at times. Little to no accumulation is expected.

Have a nice Tuesday. Happy Veterans Day.
