Chilly, frosty start but afternoon highs slightly above normal

Bend, OR (KTVZ) -

Today marks the end of meteorological fall and the beginning of meteorological winter. While the Winter Solstice isn’t until December 21st, the meteorological seasons are based on the temperature cycle and used for record keeping and climatological purposes. December through the end of February are the coldest months out of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and are considered meteorological winter.

It is a frosty and chilly morning, making it feel like winter. There is a chance for patchy freezing fog on your morning commute.

This afternoon should see temperatures slightly above the seasonal average. Highs will be in the mid and upper 40s. Normal for this time of year is the lower 40s.

The work week stays quiet under a dry, northwest flow aloft as a ridge of high pressure stays parked offshore. This system will break down as we approach the weekend. Rain and mountain snow are expected by Friday and will continue through the weekend.

Happy Monday and have a great day.
