Freezing fog this morning, chilly start to the weekend

The National Weather Service has issued a special statement for pockets of freezing fog this morning, expected to continue through the morning hours.
Visibility could drop as low as a quarter mile or less, so please drive carefully if you run into it. Slick spots are also possible on area roads.
Most of Central Oregon has been trapped under the fog for the past week, but the pattern is finally starting to change.
The high pressure system that’s been keeping fog and low clouds locked in place is breaking down, which should allow the fog to gradually mix out.
Even though we are expecting improvements with the freezing fog, high temperatures will remain chilly in the low 30s. Overnight lows will drop into the teens and even single digits south of Lava Butte.
Because of the persistent fog, Bend hasn’t warmed above freezing since last Friday. Meanwhile, La Pine and Mt. Bachelor have been reaching the 40s under the sunshine.
A weak wave of precipitation moved in from the northwest, but very little of it actually made it to the ground. Looking ahead to the weekend, precipitation chances remain low.
Saturday brings a slight warming trend with highs returning to the upper 30s. That is still below our normal of low 40s for this time of year.
Sunday continues the warm up, with highs nearing the upper 40s. The quiet pattern sticks around into Monday and Tuesday. We may see a passing shower Wednesday, but this system doesn’t look like a big snow maker for the Cascades.
