Spotty showers off and on this week, light snow mixed in at times

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) - We did have a lovely weekend with a good deal of sunshine to provide us with the much-needed solar energy that was missing all last week. We finally got above the freezing mark on Saturday around 1:30 pm after being sub-freezing for over a week. Friday afternoon, January 16th we dropped below 32° and didn’t get above freezing until the following Saturday. We are now going to see a the 40s and the 50s this week with some rain and snow mixed into the equation.
Tuesday will see a mostly cloudy day with a little sunshine in the morning followed by clouds in afternoon. There is a chance for some light rain or a mix of rain and snow after sunset with some light snow accumulating across the Cascades for the first time in a while.

Rain and snow will linger off and on Wednesday as showers pass by through the day. Not much trouble, but some slick roads are possible at times. There will be a better chance for some light snow to accumulate Wednesday night into Thursday morning but less than an inch is likely.
A wintry mix of rain and snow will be present until around noon Thursday. Highs will reach the low 50s in the afternoon; therefore any precipitation will likely be rain after about 10am if it lingers that long.
Friday, Groundhog Day, will be mild and dry with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Saturday and Sunday are slated to be mild and dry with mostly sunny skies.
Remember, if the Groundhog sees his shadow, it scares him and he scurries back into his burrow. As a result, we have six more weeks of winter. The Vernal Equinox is when the direct rays of the sun cross the equator giving us equal amounts of daylight and darkness. This year the equinox occurs at 7:45 am Pacific Time on March 20th, just a little over six weeks after Groundhog Day. Funny how that happens.
Please, Stay safe.
