Warming up over the weekend, Daylight Saving Time starts Sunday
Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Central Oregon will be warming into the 60s both Saturday and Sunday as a large ridge of high pressure expands over the Pacific Northwest. There will be a slight chance for some light showers overnight into Saturday morning, but I expect most of the moisture to be gone by sunrise. The sky conditions should start out partly to mostly cloudy, the clear out to sunny skies by mid to late morning.
Saturday will also see the mercury in the thermometer rise into the 60s under the ridge. The general flow of air will be coming in from the west with the mountain passes getting a bit breezy. The sunny and dry pattern is expected to change next week, so if you like spring-like weather, enjoy it now as the cooler pattern returns next week.

Sunday will be variably cloudy with high temperatures still hitting the 60s, even with more cloud cover. The ridge does begin to flatten late in the day, and some clouds are likely to bring in a slight chance for showers over the Cascades, but I do not expect any moisture to reach the High Desert.
Winds pick up on Monday as the ridge flattens further, and colder air arrives from the north. The winds will be from the west but with a much cooler feel. High temperatures Monday will be about 15 – 20 degrees cooler than Sunday. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are on the docket for Monday helping to inhibit the heating process as well.
Tuesday will be similar to Monday as the pattern remains locked in a westerly flow of wind in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Mountain snow may return Tuesday as well, but only a few flakes.
Wednesday and Thursday will have a better chance for rain and mountain snow. We warm up into the middle 50s both days so rain will be the precipitation type across the High Desert as snow returns to the Cascades.
Of note:
This weekend we “Spring Forward” as we move into Daylight Saving Time from Standard Time. We push the clocks ahead this Sunday at 2am, so we lose an hour of sleep. Sunset is an hour later in the day, but so is the sunrise.

Please, Stay safe.
