A few scattered showers today, Local Alert Weather Days issued for Wed-Thurs

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Expect cloudy skies today along with a few scattered showers. Temperatures will rise into the low to mid 50s this afternoon, making it a little warmer than yesterday.

Local Alert Weather Days have been issued for both Wednesday and Thursday.

A stronger system moves through midweek, bringing widespread showers, gusty winds, and significant snow to the Cascades. Travel impacts are possible through the mountain passes. A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect Wednesday through Thursday evening.

Most of the impacts will stay in the mountains, but parts of the High Desert could see minor effects. There is a chance for some slushy roads early Thursday morning due to possible snow overnight. Since the ground is not frozen, little to no accumulation is expected.

Wednesday also brings a chance for an isolated thunderstorm. Any storms that develop will be weak and short-lived, but could produce brief heavier showers.

Showers will taper off Thursday as the system moves out.

High pressure builds in Friday, bringing drier and warmer weather. Temperatures climb into the upper 60s to low 70s this weekend. After a brief return to winter midweek, it will feel much more like spring again.
