Local Alert Weather Day: Early snow possible on the High Desert before the region drys out

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Thursday is a Local Alert Weather Day mainly for possible travel impacts. We’re not expecting much snow on the High Desert, but a few slick spots are possible early after overnight snow showers. The bigger impacts will stay in the mountains.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in place until 5 PM today for the east slopes of the Cascades. Expect several inches of snow today along with gusty winds at times.

Light snow moved into Central Oregon overnight and a few snow showers could linger through the morning. Little to no accumulation is expected for lower elevations.

Skies begin to clear later today, but cooler air sticks around. High temperatures will only reach the 40s for most areas.

Clear skies and light winds tonight will allow temperatures to drop into the teens and 20s.

We got a brief taste of winter this week, but it will start to feel like spring again very soon. Warmer and drier weather returns Friday and into the weekend, with afternoon highs climbing back into the 60s and low 70s.
