Local Alert Weather Day: Heavy Cascade Snow, High Desert Mix

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Cascade crest and east slopes until 5am tomorrow.

A spring snowstorm will bring heavy snow to the Cascades, with 6–12 inches possible. Snow may linger into Thursday morning, but most of the accumulation will stay in the mountains.

Gusty winds will also develop this evening, creating hazardous travel through the passes.

This is mainly a mountain event. Most of the High Desert will see cold rain, though a few spots could pick up around 1 inch of snow with little accumulation. Some slick roads are possible tonight through Thursday morning.

Afternoon highs will range from the low 40s to low 50s today. It will feel cooler at times due to breezy to windy conditions across the High Desert.

Expect cold temperatures overnight as we dip into the 20s.

Conditions begin to dry out Thursday, but temperatures will remain below normal in the 40s.

Warmer weather returns Friday with highs in the upper 50s and mostly sunny skies. Temperatures climb into the mid 60s Saturday, continuing the dry pattern.

Chances for rain return Sunday and Monday with mild temperatures ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s.
