High-speed rollover crash downs power lines on Highway 97 in Redmond

KTVZ

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A high-speed rollover crash brought down power lines and temporarily shut down part of Highway 97 in Redmond on Sunday, according to authorities.

The crash happened near 61st Street, between Southwest Young Avenue and a nearby excavation site along South Highway 97.

An ODOT incident team member on scene told KTVZ News the driver lost control at high speed, struck a telephone pole and rolled across multiple lanes of traffic.

The crash knocked power lines onto the highway, blocking both directions for a time.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jason Carr said the lines have since been cleared and all lanes are now open.

The driver survived the crash, though their condition has not been released.

Oregon State Police is leading the investigation, and additional details have not yet been made public.
