There’s Good News: Paddy Pint Road Race boosts Prineville schools with $5,000 donation

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Paddy Pint Road Race, Prineville's annual running event, donated $5,000 to the Crook County School District on April 30, 2026. The funds are designated for new physical education equipment to enhance student wellness and activity opportunities across the district in Prineville, Ore.

The donation will support the school district's efforts to strengthen student engagement through high-quality physical education programs. The Pint, which began as a small gathering in 2013, has grown into a cornerstone community tradition, attracting up to 700 participants from across Central Oregon each year.

Dr. Joel Hoff, Superintendent of the Crook County School District, highlighted the importance of the contribution for student development. "Student engagement is one of our highest priorities," Dr. Hoff said. "Ensuring our physical education programs have access to high-quality equipment enhances student experiences and encourages lifelong healthy habits. We are incredibly grateful for this generous contribution, which will benefit students across our district and highlight the strength of community partnerships in Crook County."

The event's director, Dr. Tony Ramos, emphasized the Pint's ongoing commitment to local youth. "From the very beginning, Pint has been about more than just running—it's about bringing people together and giving back to the community we love," Dr. Ramos said. "Watching this event grow from a handful of participants into a major community tradition has been incredible and we're proud to support our local schools in helping kids stay active and healthy."

Since its inception, the Pint has provided significant community benefit. The event has generated over $100,000 in direct community benefit for youth and adult athletics. It has also contributed $124,000 in free dental care for Crook County youth.

The Pint now spans a full weekend of family-friendly activities. These include the Prineville Ride About Bike Event and a post-race celebration at Pioneer Park. The celebration features food trucks, games and refreshments.

Known for its unpredictable Central Oregon weather and unwavering community spirit, the Pint embodies the fun and resilience of Prineville. The event continues to make a lasting impact by giving back to the community it serves.
