Bend baseball storms past Summit in decisive rivalry win

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- The Bend High Lava Bears delivered a statement win Friday night at Vince Genna Stadium, defeating the Summit Storm 15-2 in five innings to take the three-game series and move into sole possession of first place in the IMC. Bend’s offense exploded from the start, scoring five runs in the first inning behind RBI hits from Kaden Cooper, Lewis Knapp, Quentin Romney and Marcio Silva. Summit answered with two runs in the second after doubles from Jackson Parker and Andrew Guthrie, but the Lava Bears never slowed down. Bend continued to pile on runs with timely hitting and capitalized on Storm errors, building a 15-2 lead by the fifth inning. Cole Cooper helped set the tone on the mound and at the plate, while Silva, Knapp, Romney and Kaden Cooper all contributed to the offensive outburst as Bend secured the run-rule victory and the series win over Summit.
