BrightSide Animal Center pets receive free microchips thanks to community partnership

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A small microchip can make a big difference in helping lost pets find their way home.

BrightSide Animal Center is making sure every pet adopted from its shelter has an extra layer of protection, providing a microchip to every animal as part of the adoption process.

The microchips, which are about the size of a grain of rice, can help reunite lost pets with their families by providing a way to identify their owners.

The Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon is helping make that possible by covering the cost of microchips for BrightSide shelter pets.

The shelter says the partnership helps keep animals safe and gives new pet owners added peace of mind as they bring their adopted companions home.

BrightSide thanked the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon for its generosity and support in helping protect pets in the community.
