MGN Online

SALT LAKE CITY (KTVZ) -- A 17-year-old Utah girl reported missing 17 months ago was safely recovered in Oregon on Sunday and a 39-year-old man with her was arrested, the FBI said.

Oregon law enforcement worked with FBI in Salt Lake City and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office, located the girl, who was reported missing from Garden City, Utah, in May 2025.

"She was located this afternoon in Oregon with a 39-year-old male, who was taken into custody without incident," the agency announced, not releasing names or details of where in Oregon they were found.

The FBI hasn't released details about the girl, but KGW reported the timeline of the case aligns with the disappearance of then-16-year-old Kylie Arellano. She was last seen on May 29, 2025 in Garden City,

“Tonight, local police in Oregon brought a minor who had been missing for a year and a half to safety, acting on information provided by our FBI Salt Lake City Field Office,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. “We are grateful she can return home, and we will continue working with our partners to hold those responsible accountable. To anyone using gore groups to target and exploit children: the FBI and our partners are coming for you. We are using every tool at our disposal to combat nihilistic violent extremism, bring offenders to justice and protect America’s children.”

The FBI said the agency and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office have been actively investigating this case for more than a year and pursuing every lead received from across the U.S. and in other countries. As this case is ongoing, the FBI no further information will be released at this time.

The FBI and Rich County Sheriff’s Office appreciate invaluable assistance from Oregon State Police, FBI Portland, and the Utah Department of Public Safety.
