Police investigating 2 bodies found in NE Bend home
(Update: more details from police)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A welfare check on residents of a northeast Bend home Saturday night led to the discovery of two bodies and a death investigation that included evidence processing work outside the home, police said Sunday.
Bend Police and Fire & Rescue had responded on a welfare check around 9:40 p.m. Saturday to a home in the 900 block of Northeast 12th Street, police Lt. Juli McConkey said.
The first responders found two people dead at the scene. The Central Oregon Major Incident Team was called in and received a search warrant for the home, McConkey added.
Investigators and forensic experts were working within crime scene tape outside the home Sunday near U.S. Highway 20 (Greenwood Avenue) and Pilot Butte.
McConkey said the Oregon State Police Forensics Lab responded to collect evidence. She said "investigators have been working around the clock. We expect to be at the residence for several days."
No more details were released by McConkey, who said it was only termed a death investigation at this time.
A nearby resident, Jake Severance, said people in the neighborhood became concerned when they made plans with one of the residents and did not hear from them for days.
One neighbor said they heard ambulances early Sunday morning, while another said the investigation was going to shake up the neighborhood for a while.
We will have more details as they become available.
