Prescribed burn planned south of Prineville

KTVZ

Fuels specialists with the Prineville Bureau of Land Management intend to begin prescribed burning Wednesday west of Millican Road, about 15 miles south of Prineville.

Specialists expect operations to continue for 3 – 5 days as they reduce hazardous fuels and the likelihood of future high intensity wildfires by burning concentrations of previously cut juniper across about 400 acres.

No road closures are anticipated with this project. However, smoke could impact Millican Road. Signs will be placed to alert motorists to conditions.

If smoke drifts on to roads, motorists should slow down, turn on headlight, and proceed with care. Once ignited, units are monitored by firefighters until they are declared out.
