Man arrested in NE Bend arson
A Bend man was arrested on arson charges early Sunday, shortly after police and firefighters doused a blaze set in pallets and a Dumpster behind a pet supply store near the corner of NE Third Street and Greenwood Avenue, police said.
Police responded shortly after 3 a.m. to the reported fire behind Mini Pet Mart at 250 NE Greenwood Avenue, said Sgt. Dan Ritchie. They found several pallets and a Dumpster on fire against the building and flames growing toward the building’s roof, he said.
Officers tried to douse the blaze with fire extinguishers, and while unsuccessful kept the flames from reaching the roof. Bend firefighters arrived and put out the fire before any major structural damage could occur.
Investigating officers detained Isaiah Jeffrey Marcy, 26, in the area and he was taken to police headquarters for questioning, Ritchie said.
Evidence connecting Marcy to the fire – reported including a security video from the nearby Colima Market – led to his arrest on two counts of second-degree arson. He was taken to the Deschutes County Jail and held on $30,000 bail.
