Dirt bike crash seriously injures La Pine man

KTVZ

A 48-year-old La Pine man who crashed his speeding dirt bike into a tree Monday evening was in serious condition Tuesday at St. Charles Bend, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and La Pine fire medics responded shortly before 7 p.m. to the reported injury motorcycle crash on Jackpine Road, said Sgt. Ty Rupert.

An investigation found that James Russell Taylor had been operating a dirt bike on the road “at a high rate of speed when he left the roadway and struck a tree,” Rupert said, adding that he was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Taylor was flown to St. Charles Bend with life-threatening injuries, the sergeant said, adding that he was listed in critical condition at the time.
