Hwy. 126 crash critically injures Prineville man

Oregon State Police are investigating the the cause of Thursday night’s single vehicle rollover crash along Highway 126 about four miles east of Redmond that critically injured a Prineville man.

Shortly before 10 p.m., a 1993 GMC pickup driven by Jason Gordon, 23, was westbound on Highway 126 near milepost 4 when it left the road. It rolled several times and struck a tree before coming to rest, troopers said.

Gordon was partially ejected out of the driver’s door and critically injured, they said.

An off-duty Crook County sheriff’s deputy and OSP sergeant witnessed the crash and began first aid until relieved by EMS responders.

Gordon was flown by air ambulance to St. Charles Bend, where he was listed in critical condition Friday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor, troopers said.

OSP troopers from the Bend Area Command are continuing the investigation. Recruit Trooper Richard Gay is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Crook County Sheriff’s Office, and Redmond Fire and Rescue.

Highway 126 was blocked at the crash scene for about 30 minutes.
