Camera found hidden in Bend COCC restroom

An iPhone recently was found hidden in the soap dispenser of a women’s restroom at Central Oregon Community College, Bend police confirmed Friday.

Students found the camera-equipped phone in a restroom at Modoc Hall last Friday and alerted campus security. Several students and others told NewsChannel 21 of the incident from reports posted on social media.

COCC officials, who would not comment on the incident, said they have passed the information on to Bend police, who are investigating the case.

Police Lt. Nick Parker, the department’s public information officer, said because it is an open investigation, he cannot comment on the incident, other than to say they are taking it very seriously..

Parker confirmed the phone was placed in the soap dispenser, camera lens facing up. He said he could not offer any details, such as whether any pictures were found on the phone, because the investigation is still underway.
