New Crescent Ranger Station to be dedicated

A new building for the Deschutes National Forest’s Crescent Ranger District will be dedicated in mid-June and the public is invited.

On Tuesday, June 16, the Forest Service’s new Crescent Ranger Station will be dedicated through song and celebration. The public is welcomed to join in all the activities.

The dedication will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to occur at 11:45 a.m. An employee-sponsored BBQ lunch and public tours of the building will be offered at noon following the ceremony. If people are unable to come to the ceremony, tours of the building will continue to be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. that day.

“We are proud of and thankful for the new Crescent Ranger Station. We hope it represents and serves our communities and visitors in the many decades to come because it is our communities and visitors that are integral to who we are and what we accomplish as a Ranger District, public servants, and members of the community,” said Holly Jewkes, Crescent District Ranger.

The building replaces several aging buildings that have significant maintenance issues. The new building will be more energy efficient and reduce maintenance costs as well as provide a place for community members to gather for activities and meetings, which the previous office could not accomodate.
