Redmond Kiwanis awards scholarships, wine

The Kiwanis Club of Redmond awarded college scholarships to 14 graduating seniors from Redmond’s high schools in May totaling $12,750.

From Redmond Proficiency Academy: Tayler Bremont and Abigail Stevens, $1,000 each; Emma Price, $2,500.

From Ridgeview High School: Lawrence Arefieg and Savannah King, $1,000 each; Billy Brant, $500; Dylan McCarty, $1,250.

From Central Christian: Abigail Hannay, $750; Adrian Keller and Caleb Reynolds, $,1000 each; Josiah Poole, $500.

From Redmond High School: Hannah Johns and Bryna O’Keefe, $500 each.

Homeschooled: Luke Purkey, $1,250.

In its 16th annual wine raffle, the Kiwanis Club of Redmond awarded 100 bottles of wine, 25 each to John Zancanella, Marty Bewley, Jessica George and Kae Loverink.

The fundraising event was held in conjunction with the clubs 11th annual vintner’s dinner at which more than $5,000 was raised for the Jericho Backpacks program which provides weekend meals for Redmond students during the school year.
