High Desert Chamber Music awarded four grants

KTVZ

High Desert Chamber Music has been awarded a two year capacity grant in the amount of $15,000 from the Miller Foundation, to strengthen the management team with an administrative assistant.

The independent and private foundation was established in 2002 to enhance the quality of life of Oregonians through support of the Arts and Education.

High Desert Chamber Music has also received a grant from the Herbert Templeton Foundation in the amount of $5,000, to support our expanded concert series and Educational Outreach programs.

This private foundation provides grants to organizations in the areas of education, social concerns, performing arts, and humanities operating within the State of Oregone. This award helps make possible one of our new offerings this season – a free public Master Class by internationally renowned musician Heiichiro Ohyama.

Additional grants for general operating support were awarded by the Autzen Foundation ($2,000) and the Oregon Arts Commission ($1,000). This is the third year HDCM has received support from the Autzen Foundation, which funds programs focusing on arts, culture, and social services, primarily in the State of Oregon.

This is the first year of the OAC’s Small Operating Grant pilot program, which supports the core operation of small not-for profit arts organizations that offer ongoing, sustained, artistic programming and outreach programs in the community.

“We are continually honored to be awarded these grants from such notable foundations. We work hard to present events of the highest quality and caliber, and take pride in being a local organization presenting a national level of excellence. The receipt of these grants allows us to grow with our demand, and move forward with our mission. These funds will be used to strengthen our management team and support our ongoing activities, including the expanded concert season and our Educational Outreach programs,” states Executive Director Isabelle Senger.

High Desert Chamber Music educational outreach efforts include providing students with direct contact to the visiting artists through performances and Q&A sessions at string orchestra classes. A recent visit to Bend Senior High School was attended by over 500 students, and included students from art, history, and music classes from five different schools.

We hope to expose young children to the highest levels of music performance, and cultivate an interest that can lead to a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of the performing arts.

High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Now in its eighth season, HDCM has presented a broad range of chamber groups, ranging from string trios to piano quintets. Tickets and more information are available by phone or online through High Desert Chamber Music.

HDCM 2015-2016 title sponsors include Shevlin Dental Center, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Lumbermens Insurance, Pine Tavern Restaurant, German Master Tech, Oregon Cultural Trust, KQAK radio and KBNW Radio. Additional support provided by Hertz Car Sales of Bend, Tower Theatre Foundation, BendBroadband, and Creative Images of Life.
