The Center Orthopedic & Neurosurgical Care & Research is teaming up with the Bend FC Timbers as their official sports medicine provider.

The Center will provide medical coverage with their board certified physicians and certified athletic trainers at major home games and events, including the Bend Premier Cup, the single largest sporting event in Central Oregon.

The Center will also offer athletes comprehensive concussion prevention, education, treatment, and rehabilitation services. Bend FC Timbers athletes will undergo baseline imPACT concussion testing at The Center in February to prepare for the 2016-17 season.

Additionally, injury prevention will be emphasized to athletes, coaches and parents, throughout the soccer season.

“This long-term agreement with Bend FC Timbers will allow us to provide the athletes with access to some of the best physicians, athletic trainers, and facilities available,” said Mike Gonsalves, CEO of The Center. “This relationship is a natural extension of the sports medicine services we currently offer in our community and we are proud to partner with Bend FC Timbers.”

In addition to the 21 board certified physicians and 20 midlevel providers, The Center employs 10 certified athletic trainers who provide sports medicine care to Bend, Sisters, Prineville, and La Pine high schools, as well as the Bend Elks and XC Oregon athletes.

“Soccer is a physically demanding game, our athletes see injuries ranging from broken bones to torn ligaments and concussions. Safety is our number one concern and it’s imperative to have a medical partner that provides expert care for sports-related injuries,” said Tara Bilanski, technical director of Bend FC Timbers. “The Center has a reputation of providing the highest quality sports medicine and we are excited about this new partnership.”

Bend FC Timbers offers both competitive and recreational soccer to the families of Central Oregon. The staff is comprised of 4 full-time employees and 24 professional and licensed coaches. The club supports healthy, strong and well-rounded athletes with nearly 3,000 kids participating in their programs.
