OSP, drug agents stop, arrest 2 Bend teens near Sisters

Two Bend 18-year-olds – one under investigation for alleged major drug trafficking – were stopped on Highway 20 west of Sisters and arrested last week. A search of their SUV turned up a wide variety of drugs, with more found later at their northeast Bend apartment, authorities said Wednesday.

The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team revealed details of last Thursday’s arrests of Cylyx Spaethe and Adrienne Haskett. They were stopped around 9:25 a.m. a few miles west of Sisters by drug agents and Oregon State Police while Spaethe was at the wheel of a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, said Bend Police Lt. Ken Mannix.

CODE Team detectives had been investigating Spaethe’s involvement in trafficking large quantities of drugs throughout Deschutes County, Mannix said. They gathered information that Spaethe was traveling to the Willamette Valley on a regular basis to obtain drugs, then return to Deschutes County to sell them.

Last Thursday, detectives had information Spaethe was traveling on Highway 20W in the Sisters area, Mannix said. At the request of detectives, OSP conducted a traffic stop on Spaethe’s Jeep, and a narcotics K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs inside.

A search turned up about five ounces of cocaine, three ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, two pounds of marijuana, a “commercial amount” of LSD, 1.5 ounces of MDMA and a small amount of butane honey oil extract, along with a gun, scales, packaging material and other evidence of drug sales and manufacturing.

As the investigation continued, detectives search the pair’s northeast Bend apartment later that day, Mannix said. There, detectives found more evidence, including a half-pound of psilocybin mushrooms, a “commercial amount” of cocaine, 2.5 ounces of butane honey oil extract, a gun, scales and packaging material.

Spaethe and Haskett were booked into the Deschutes County jail on numerous drug possession, manufacturing and distribution charges; Spaethe also was charged with resisting arrest. Haskett remained jailed Wednesday, held on $30,000 bail, while Spaethe was given conditional release Tuesday to a responsible third party, jail officers said.
