Firefighters stop small La Pine brushfire

Firefighters from several agencies helped contain a small brushfire that threatened three structures in La Pine Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 3:20 p.m. in the 16400 block of South La Pine Drive officials said.

Nearly 30 firefighters responded from the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District, the Oregon Department of Forestry, the U.S. Forest Service, the BLM and Walker Range Fire Patrol. They were able to quickly contain the 1.5-acre blaze and protect nearby structures, officials said.

Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police also assisted at the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
