BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 70-year-old man who disappeared from his camp on China Hat Road south of Bend, prompting a public request for information, has been found deceased, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said Sunday, adding that it was not considered a suspicious death.
The sheriff’s office sought the public’s assistance last Thursday in locating Coty Alexander, who was reported missing a day earlier from his camp near milepost 3 on China Hat Road, Sgt. Jayson Janes said.
Alexander had left his camp, leaving behind his vehicle and dog. Janes said he last was seen on Friday, April 8 on the south end of Bend.
The man's family has been notified of his passing, the sergeant said Sunday, confirming that the death is not considered suspicious, but declining to reveal further details.
"Thank you to everyone that contacted the Sheriff's Office with information on Mr. Alexander," Janes said in a news release.
