(Update: Head-on crash, driver may have been impaired)

Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries after a two-vehicle head-on crash Friday afternoon that closed Highway 20 for a time in the Tollgate area west of Sisters, authorities said.

ODOT officials said the highway was closed in both directions by the crash that was reported around 1:30 p.m. Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District reported the crash occurred near the entrance to the Tollgate subdivision.

The highway was open again within an hour of the crash, though backups continued for some time.

Troopers said a LifeFlight helicopter landed at Sisters Airport to transport one of the drivers, while the one who crossed the center line was taken to St. Charles Bend by ambulance. They said that driver was to be interviewed at the hospital due to possible impairment.
