Early-AM fire destroys Crooked River Ranch mobile home

A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a Crooked River Ranch mobile home while its owner was away, officials said Monday.

A passer-by reported the fire and crews were sent to the home in the 8000 block of Southwest Crater Loop Road shortly before 2 a.m., said Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief/Paramedic Sean Hartley.

They began an exterior attack on the fire while another crew searched inside the burning home, to make sure no one was inside, Hartley said.

After completing the search, crews finished putting out the fire and began extensive overhaul operations, continuing to mop up hot spots until late Sunday morning, he said.

The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, Hartley said. However, investigators found indications pointing to a possible electrical problem.

The home, a total loss, was estimated at $17,000, while contents also were a total loss, valued at about $30,000.

A total of four career firefighters and 10 volunteers responded to the scene, with mutual-aid assistance provided by Redmond Fire & Rescue, the Cloverdale Fire District and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
