Three-time Eugene sex offender gets life without parole
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A three-time sex offender from Eugene has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole.
The Register-Guard reports that 54-year-old Ricky LeVasseur was sentenced on Thursday. He declined to ask for mercy or provide any statement at all during his hearing.
A jury earlier this month found him guilty of sexually assaulting a Eugene woman as she walked home in November 2015. LeVasseur denied the allegation, saying he was at home.
LeVasseur spent 14 years in prison after abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl in 1989. Months after being released from custody in that case, he was arrested in December 2003 for sexually assaulting a Eugene woman as she walked from her car to work. He served more than a decade in prison for the 2003 crime.
