Mostly sunny and a bit warmer, MON 10-21
Good morning and happy Monday, Central Oregon.
Today through Wednesday night Central Oregon will have drier conditions due to a weak ridge of high pressure building from the southwest.
Snow levels will be increasing to around 6,000 feet this afternoon and 7,500 feet this evening, therefore snow accumulations are not a concern.
Today will be around 5 to 7 degrees warmer across the region compared with yesterday with highs in the mid-60’s in the lower elevations.
Monday overnight lows will be in the high 30s to low 40s.
On Tuesday, snow levels will remain high, and only the highest peaks above 8,000 feet will observe snow.
It will be breezy Monday and Tuesday for many areas with winds up to 10 mph.
The front will move south Tuesday night followed by clearing skies.
Winds will diminish overnight.
It will be dry Tuesday night with temperatures in the mid-30s, and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with near seasonal temperatures in the low to mid-60s.
On Thursday through next Monday, an upper level ridge will remain solidly in place through the end of the work week.
Expect dry and mild conditions as afternoon highs climb into the mid- to upper 60s for lower elevations with 50s for the mountains.
An upper level trough will approach the Pacific Northwest by late Friday evening into Saturday morning; however, most of the associated precipitation will be along the Cascades as well as the higher terrain of northeast Oregon/southeast Washington.
Precipitation amounts are expected to remain light with this system.
Snow levels will initially be about 9,000 feet but will quickly drop to about 3,500 feet behind the cold front with only minor snow accumulations possible for the mountains.
Regardless of whether you see precipitation, cool conditions will return to the entire area heading into early next week.
