Central Oregon Locavore launches Chicken ‘n Fish Final Freezer Fundraiser

Central Oregon Locavore

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Central Oregon Locavore 501(c)3 Non-Profit is thrilled to expand our locally raised chicken and Oregon line-caught seafood options!

Our patrons will enjoy increased availability of local chicken from our existing vendors Holmstead Ranch, Home Farm Foods, and Great American Egg. Locavore is also pleased to welcome Chelsea Rose Seafood from Newport, OR to our Central Oregon community of seafood lovers.

However, Locavore needs help acquiring the proper equipment to get this increase in chicken and fish from our marketplace to your table.

Locavore humbly asks our community of local food advocates to donate to the Chicken ‘n Fish Freezer Fundraiser in the hope of raising $15,000 to purchase and install a commercial, salesfloor freezer. A reliable, efficient, commercial glass-front freezer costs anywhere from about $5,600 to $10,000 or more per three-door unit.

This endeavor will also require extensive electrical work that is not in this year’s budget as a small non-profit. Our customers have long expressed their desires for more locally raised chicken and line-caught, sustainable seafood options, and this new freezer would allow us to deliver on that demand in partnership with our meat vendors.

Locavore depends on community to make local happen and share in the experience of securing the future of food in Central Oregon.

Any donations made on Instagram or Facebook after March 21st will be matched up to $2,500! This generous match was presented by a long time Central Oregon Locavore shopper and supporter. Onward Locavorians! We can get there. All contributions are meaningful, lets get to that $2500 so we get that match!
