Damp & dreary weather continues on the High Desert

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Howdy all, and happy Tuesday. It's going to continue being a chilly week across the High Desert, with temperatures staying in the upper 40s to low 50s each day. Our average high this time of year is around 58 degrees, so we'll be running a bit below normal as several weather systems cycle through the Pacific Northwest. It is fall after all- meaning, this is fairly typically each year. On that note...keep those jackets handy, folks, because fall is definitely making itself known!

As for moisture, we're expecting a soggy stretch across parts of the Pacific Northwest, but much of that precipitation will struggle to make it over the Cascades and reach our High Desert communities. The bigger story will once again be the mountain snow, with around an additional 1 to 4 inches possible on the highest peaks through midweek. If you're planning to travel through the mountain passes, use extreme caution and be prepared for changing road conditions as snow moves through.

Looking ahead, conditions should turn drier as we head toward the weekend, although clouds are likely to stick around. Halloween is still looking chilly, but I don't expect much in the way of rain at this point. Some forecasts are keeping a chance of precipitation in the mix, so we'll need to watch how these systems develop over the coming days before settling on the final details.

Other than that, expect chilly afternoons and cold nights across Central Oregon. Stay warm, folks, and check back tomorrow for the latest updates right here on KTVZ.com!
