Rimrock Trails receives $10,000 grant from St. Charles Health System for peer support specialist program

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Rimrock Trails announced Wednesday that it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from St. Charles Health System. The funds will be directed to the Rimrock Trails’ Peer Support Specialist Program.
At Rimrock Trails, it is recognized that the unique contributions of each staff member are essential to the overall success of the organization. Staff members actively engage in leadership and program planning, as exemplified by the work of Peer Support Specialists.
These individuals possess lived experience in overcoming substance use and mental health challenges. Their shared characteristics and experiences foster a sense of mutual identification, trust, and reliability for those undergoing treatment.
Understanding the suffering caused by stigma and discrimination, peer support specialists are dedicated to upholding dignity and promoting equal opportunities for individuals in treatment. They work to reduce barriers to essential social services and emphasize an integrated approach to health and wellness.
Funding from St. Charles Health System of $10,000 establishes a Peer Support Specialist fund to ensure that the clients in treatment can participate in essential enrichment activities and have access to basic need items that will assist them towards the relief of their mental health symptoms and success in recovery.
As a nonprofit human services agency, Rimrock Trails relies on support from the community and its partners. With this funding, Rimrock Trails will continue to offer comprehensive counseling services tailored to address various life challenges. Specialized programs serve the needs of children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Whether dealing with mental health issues, substance use concerns, or difficult life transitions, skilled therapists assist clients on their pathway to healing.
"We are grateful to St. Charles Health System for its ongoing partnership. These funds play a vital role in supporting Rimrock Trails' system of care for addressing mental health and substance use disorders for individuals and families in Central Oregon. Together, we are creating pathways to healing and hope." - Michell Duff, Community Relations Manager, Rimrock Trails

Our Approach:
Rimrock Trails Treatment Services embraces core values that include integrity, authenticity, compassion, and connection. By combining therapy, counseling, education, and skill-building, the organization empowers clients to reclaim control over their lives and implement positive, lasting changes. Through a blend of evidence-based practices and a nurturing environment, Rimrock Trails guides individuals and families on a path toward sustainable recovery and an improved quality of life.
Peer Support Specialists (PSS):
A key component of Rimrock Trail’s approach is to provide peer support specialists for individuals and families that need more intensive support. Peer support specialists engage with and provide support for individuals and families during both residential and outpatient care on a peer level. Peer support is a unique and essential element of recovery rooted in mental health and substance use systems of care. These healthcare professionals are people with similar life experiences who can listen, give hope, and guidance toward recovery in a way that is different yet just as valuable, as clinical services.
Community Impact:
Rimrock Trails Treatment Services is deeply rooted in its local community and extends its influence through collaborations, partnerships, and educational initiatives. By raising awareness about behavioral health issues and reducing stigma, the organization seeks to create a more compassionate and supportive society for all. Through its outreach efforts, Rimrock Trails aims to inspire positive change beyond its treatment facilities.
