A fund has been established for donations toward the medical expenses for a 23-year-old Madras woman allegedly shot and critically injured by her boyfriend last weekend.
The donation account was set up at U.S. Bank in Jessica Haynes’ name, according to her sister, Melissa Schonneker.
Haynes, though still in critical condition, has stabilized for now but is in a medically induced coma at St. Charles-Bend and “will have a long road of recovery ahead of her,” Schonneker said.
Also, news updates, along with many prayers and best wishes for recovery, have been shared on a special Facebook page called “Prayers for Jessica Haynes.”
Thomas Michael Knapp, 19, was arrested on second- and third-degree assault charges following the shooting that occurred late Saturday night at the Willow Creek Apartments. Police said she was taken by ambulance to St. Charles-Madras, then flown to the Bend hospital.
