Authorities arrested a resident of the Oregon Water Wonderland No. 2 subdivision south of Sunriver Saturday night on charges he fired a shot in the air in an ongoing dispute with neighbors, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.

Jeffrey Allen Lewis, 38, was lodged in the county jail in Bend on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering and four counts of menacing, said sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Harding. He remained held Sunday on $17,500 bail, jail records showed.

Deputies, along with Sunriver police and Oregon State Police, were dispatched around 8:35 p.m. Saturday on a report of a shot being fired at a residence on Scaup Drive, Harding said.

A perimeter was established and a suspect, identified by the caller as Lewis, was contacted outside his home without incident, the sergeant said.

An investigation found that Lewis fired a handgun near the home of four others, reportedly into the air, as part of an ongoing dispute between neighbors, Harding said.

No injuries or property damage were reported, he added.
