Bend High student to perform at Carnegie Hall

A Bend High School student is about to show off her singing talents at one of the world’s most famous venues.

Freshman Katie Wise was selected for the 2014 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Wise will take the stage this Sunday, along with other high-rated performers from across the country. She will be singing as a soprano in the Honors Choir.

Wise said Tuesday it means a lot to have this opportunity, because it’s something she’s wanted her whole life. But it definitely didn’t come easy.

“I just think I’m really thankful, and I’m just really lucky to get this opportunity,” Wise said. “I think singers should just stick with it, because it works out always, always. If you want something you’ll get it if you try really hard.”

Wise said she looks up to singers like Lana Del Rey and Marina and the Diamonds.

This will be her first time visiting New York City.
