With the help of local experts in 5 diverse sectors, this year’s event will feature forecasts, statistical data, and information about our region and beyond. arren Powderly, CCIM, Partner, Compass Commercial Real Estate Services Darren Powderly has just celebrated 10 years in Central Oregon and 10 years as a commercial real estate professional with Compass Commercial. He absolutely loves working with business owners, property owners and investors to help them achieve their real estate goals. Powderly gives back to the community by serving as an EDCO board member, assisting with the development of the OSU-Cascades campus and contributing to wide variety of local non-profits. Darren is also the founder or CrowdStreet, a nationwide equity crowd funding platform for investment real estate. Darren is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder and began his career as a technology executive in San Francisco.

Mel Oberst, City of Bend Community Development Director Mel Oberst has been the Community Development Director for the City of Bend since January 2006. Prior to coming to Bend Mel worked for the cities of Grants Pass, Hillsboro and Springfield Oregon. Mel has also worked as a land use consultant and vineyard manager where he oversaw the planting of a vineyard in the Umpqua River valley. He did his undergraduate studies in political science at Illinois Wesleyan University and graduate studies in regional planning at the University of Oregon. Mel has been a volunteer with SMART which promotes early childhood literacy and a soccer coach for elementary school kids. He is married and has a daughter in grade school. Mel loves to ski, fish, road bike and open water swim in beautiful Central Oregon.

Nick Lelack, AICP, Deschutes County Community Development Director Nick Lelack, AICP, is the Deschutes County Community Development Director. Prior to joining the County in 2009, his career in public policy spanned the public, private and non-profit sectors; federal, state and local governments; urban and rural communities; coast-to-coast; and from high altitudes to sea level. He has Masters Degrees in Community and Regional Planning, and Public Administration, from the University of Oregon, and a B.S. from Willamette University. Nick has earned the Economic Development for Central Oregon’s Public Sector Person of the Year Award, and led a team that received Oregon’s top achievement in professional planning award for the Redmond UGB Expansion and Growth Management Plan.

Wendy Adkisson, Principal Broker at Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty/ President-Elect COAR. With over 25 years of experience in real estate, Wendy’s professional experience and accomplishments are unrivaled in Central Oregon. Now in her second term as President for Central Oregon Association of Realtors, Wendy has also served as Local Director, State Director and Treasurer for this organization. Wendy served on the state forms committee for real estate forms from 1996-2012, continues to serve on the MLS Executive Committee as well as the Professional Standards Committee, a post that she has held since the early 90’s.
