Flue fire damages SW Redmond duplex

KTVZ

A flu fire in a failing, older wood stove chimney system caused $11,000 damage to a southwest Redmond duplex last Sunday evening, officials said Friday.

A dozen career and three volunteer firefighters were called to the fire at 1451 SW 11 th Street shortly before 6 p.m., said Redmond Fire Marshal Traci Cooper.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and flames inside the duplex, around the chimney of a wood-burning stove, Cooper said.

The residents were home at the time of the fire, which was reported by a passer-by, the fire marshal said. They were relocated to an area motel.

Redmond police provided mutual-aid assistance at the scene.
