Bend police K-9 catches hiding burglary suspect

A Lake Oswego man suspected of smashing glass to break into a N. Highway 97 convenience store in Bend early Saturday was captured by Bend police K-9 “Haras” and his partner, found hiding behind a large container nearby, police said.
Police were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. on a report of a burglary in progress at the Fast Market, located by the Conoco gas station at 62980 N. Highway 97, said Sgt. Liz Lawrence.
Witnesses said they saw broken glass and a man running away, she said.
Brian Colton Roedl, 19, was found about 100 yards to the north, hiding behind a large metal storage container. He had minor cuts from the broken glass, Lawrence said, and was taken into custody without incident.
Roedl was taken to St. Charles Bend for treatment, then lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and minor in possession of alcohol by consumption.
He was released from jail Saturday morning, having met release criteria, officers said.
